This photo is my first attempt at High Dynamic Range (HDR) photo editing. The basic premise is taking a series of photographs with different exposures ranging from underexposed to overexposed and then stacking them on top of one another to get a nice, even balance of light in the forground and sky. (or whatever your subject happens to be). I'm not sure if this was successful, but it's a fun expirament.

• Thanks. Um. not really any painting. THe HDR merge really isn't the part that makes a major difference, it's the Tone Mapping in Photomatic. From there, I did some post photoshop work (levels, selective color, etc)

• Strong shot! The HDR brings out the subtle details... I like to use HDR to bring out those details that may otherwise go unnoticed without it.

• I used to do HDR the hard way....all in Photoshop. Didn't know there was a name for it. Photomatix seems like an invaluable software. For some reason at first I thought that your camera automatically did the HDR. I was definitely salivating over this idea.

• Yeah, I quit using Photomatix to create the HDR combination because the result was a little bit on the fake side... I think photoshop does a much better job of merging the exposures in a subtle way.
